Safety measures for Heatwaves – Dr. Md. Abdur Rakib

Bangladesh is experiencing a heatwave and extreme weather. Today’s highest temperature reached 42.6°C in Jashore district, while yesterday it was 41.5°C in Chuadanga district. It’s important to take preventive measures when facing heatwaves to ensure safety during periods of extreme heat.

Please try to follow the safety measures below.

1. Stay hydrated by drinking water and avoiding caffeine/alcohol.

2. Seek shelter indoors during the hottest parts of the day.

3. Use fans or air conditioning to keep cool. Visit air-conditioned places if needed.

4. Close curtains to block sunlight and keep indoor spaces cooler.

5. Wear lightweight, breathable clothing.

6. Take cool showers or baths to lower body temperature.

7. Minimize outdoor activities during peak heat hours.

8. Apply sunscreen and stay informed about weather forecasts.

9. Check on vulnerable individuals.

10. Seek medical help if needed.

Please share it and help others stay safe during these extreme heat weather conditions. Thanks.
